Ladakh, a region in the state of Jammu and Kashmir in India, lies between the Kunlun mountain chain in the north and the Himalayas in the south. Ladakh, land of high passes, being culturally and historically similar to Tibet is called the “Mini Tibet”. It possesses two administrative districts, Lehn and Kargil.
During winter, from October to May, snowfall is a recurrent. Temperature reaches below 0°C making passes covered with snow . Resultantly, travelling becomes unfeasible. Summer is the only period when the passes are open. Hence, the best time to visit Ladakh is from June to September. Temperature during this time can raise to 33°C. Occasional and unpredictable rainfall may happen anytime.
